A written verdict on whether your project is worth doing

Who this is for

• You are planning work and have no reliable idea what it should cost.
• You are holding one quote, or three, and cannot tell whether any of them is fair.
• You are still deciding whether to do the work at all, and a wrong answer is expensive.
• You want the reasoning as well as the number — something you can check, and argue with.

Who this is not for

If one of these describes you, do not buy this. It is cheaper for you and it is the reason this section is on the page.

• The job is small enough that our fee would be a real share of it. Read the free price guide instead and keep your money.
• You have already signed a contract and the crew starts next week. A verdict will not change what you agreed to.
• You need a structural, safety or code answer. That is an engineer or your municipality, not us.
• You need drawings you can submit for a permit. We do not produce them.
• Your property is outside the GTA and Peel Region, Ontario. We would be guessing at local prices and local ground, and a confident guess is the thing we exist to argue against.

How it works

1. Step 1

   You describe the project

   Seven questions in total: what you want done, your postal code, the budget you had in mind, how soon you want it, a date, a time, and an email address at payment. No account. We never ask for your email in exchange for showing you a price. A written description and photographs are optional, and both make the visit better.

2. Step 2

   We read it before we arrive

   Your description, your photos, and what the property looks like from the street. The appointment starts from something rather than from scratch.

3. Step 3

   The visit

   We look at the things that actually move the price: access, grade, drainage, soil, what is already there and what has to come out. We also ask what you are really trying to fix, which is not always the same as what you asked for.

4. Step 4

   The written verdict

   It arrives in writing, in your dashboard and by email — not on the spot in your driveway. We would rather check the numbers than say something confident and wrong.

5. Step 5

   One recommended next step, or none

   The report names at most one thing worth doing next, and shows the fee you already paid coming off it. Sometimes it says you need nothing further from us. That is a real outcome and we write it down when it is true.

What is not included

• Drawings, plans or renderings.
• A line-by-line itemised quote.
• Any contact with contractors on your behalf.
• Engineering, architectural, legal or safety advice.
• Construction work of any kind. We do not build, ever.
• A guarantee that a contractor will price your job inside our range. We can tell you what the work should cost; we cannot make anyone charge it.

Where this sits

The consultation is the front door, and deliberately the only service with a cold checkout. What comes after it is decided by the verdict, not chosen by you at a pricing table before anyone has seen your property.
